Mission Statement
|
The
Dominican-American Midwest Association (DAMA) is a nonpartisan,
nonprofit organization seeking to address the need of all Dominicans
and Dominican-Americans in the Midwest region of the U.S. Specifically,
DAMA will create an avenue for analysis, planning, and action
concerning political, educational, economic, and health-related issues
that affect their lives. DAMA will strive to create an awareness in the
Dominican-American community that rights and duties permeate all
social, cultural, economic, and political activity.
Goals
- To empower Dominican-Americans educationally, economically, technologically, and culturally
- To advocate for increased presence and participation of Dominican-Americans in the United States political arena
- To interact and network with other Dominican and Latino organizations
- To
facilitate research in the analysis of Dominicans and
Dominican-Americans relative to their situation in every fact of US
society
- To
monitor and act upon policy issues that affect Dominicans and
Dominican-Americans and are of relevance to them and to the Dominican
Republic society
- To
establish a dialogue with US elected officials to advocate for greater
consideration of the Dominican point of view in local, national, and
international politics and economics
- To promote Dominican interests within public and private institutions of education
